The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers expected that Vietnam’s tuna export turnover in 2012 can reach US$600 million, up 57% against the same period in 2011.
Exports to potential markets such as the Republic of Korea (RoK), Mexico and Tunisia can see high growth rates.
In early months of 2012, Vietnam’s tuna made impressions with a continuous double-digit growth rate in value, from 22.1% in February to 53.3% in October.
The exports of tuna filet in the first 10 months of 2012 reached more than US$166.2 million, up 134.4%.
Top three largest tuna importers of Vietnam include the US, Italia and Spain which account for 43.07%, 12.15% and 5.7% of the market shares respectively.
