According to VASEP Viet Nam’s tuna export value reached nearly US $ 500 million, an increasing of 54.1 per cent over the same period last year.
Tuna fillet export surpass the live tuna''''''''s with grow rate of 139.82 per cent followed by canned tuna of 47.66 per cent, processed tuna 42.08 per cent and iced tuna 13.54 per cent. Top ten importers of Viet Nam’s tuna saw stable growth excluding Iran.
According to General Department of Viet Nam Customs Spain has become the third largest importer of Viet Nam tuna which previously occupied by Belgium. Tuna export to Portuguese market increased by 357 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Thanks to abundant material source in the country coincided with strong demand on the world market Viet Nam tuna export is expected to sustain growth rate in terms of value as well as volume, said many experts.
